What is the Vis Dialogue Method?

It isn’t about coping—it’s about healing at the root.

The Vis Dialogue, developed by Dr. Daniel Moshe-Block, is a form of holistic counseling that integrates mind-body-spirit awareness to support deep emotional healing and personal transformation. 

The Latin phrase vis medicatrix naturae translates as “the healing power of nature.” Specifically, "vis" on its own means “the power” or “the force.” The phrase dates back to Hippocrates (~400 BCE), often called the “Father of Medicine.” Hippocrates observed that the body has an innate ability to heal itself — for example, wounds close, fevers resolve, and infections clear. Early physicians believed their job was not to conquer disease, but to support the body’s natural healing processes. In Hippocratic thought, treatments like rest, good food, herbs, and bathing were ways to assist the vis, not override it.

In modern naturopathic medicine, the vis refers to the self-healing, self-regulating force within living beings. It’s the vital energy or intelligence that maintains health and restores balance when disrupted.

The Vis Dialogue approach helps clients uncover their maladaptive beliefs and recognize the deep connections between their beliefs (both conscious and subconscious), thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical symptoms. It's a process of self-discovery—learning to see what you hadn't been aware of before.

And as the saying goes, knowledge is power. With new awareness comes the power to shift and release old patterns and choose a more intentional path that supports your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By removing mental and emotional blocks to healing, the self-healing force – the vis – can return without as much resistance.
